Meeting with Teacher Idiot...

We met with Shoe's English teacher yesterday. If one can be an educator and a true "company man", then she is. It was actually a bit like talking to a rock with a tape recorder behind it. I'm just baffled by some of the stupid things she said. For example, the woman HONESTLY thinks that it would be unethical for her to provide my child with a copy of his graded essay because none of the other students get them. Seriously. I can see a teacher saying, "I know it's a pretty stupid policy, but the district says that we cannot return the graded essays to the students because [some sort of nonsense about them becoming the property of the Learning Center]." But to REALLY believe that somehow this is, "The best thing for all of the students." It just doesn't make any sense.

She didn't hear us. We didn't care for anything she said. In all honesty, it was a big waste of an hour.

Shoe doesn't want us to pull him from the class, so his overall GPA will suffer a little. Getting a "B" in English won't kill him and I wouldn't mind the grade if I thought it was what he deserved. I am, however, reserving my right to change my mind if we get back another C- on a paper.

The husband thinks she won't grade so hard in the future because she's not going to want to have to sit down with us again. I am not convinced that will be the case.

In fact, the ONLY thing that I AM convinced of is that she is a really, really crappy teacher. Sad.

I wish our school posted grades online; I'm jealous of all of the fun some people get to have checking up on their kids all the time. Progress reports are being mailed on Monday (well, except for the part where there isn't actually mail service on Monday due to Columbus Day). Elle has all "A"s, with maybe an "A+" in something; I can't remember. Shoe has three "A+"s, three "A"s, and the "B" in English.

It's nice to have kids who do well in school and get excited about report card day. I'm sure there are a lot of families dreading the mail next week. That would suck.
