August 22, 2002~~3:29 p.m. Teacher meeting all day today. Gosh, do you have any idea how long ALL DAY lasts? It's like, well, ALL day. And I tend to have a bit of a Sesame Street attention span (which is why teaching elementary school is such a nice fit), so when they want to meet to hash and rehash one subject area ALL day, I tend to get a little antsy. And then, of course, we had to be there at 8 am. Oh my. That is very early; yes, it is. It wasn't really so much that I didn't want to learn about the new math curriculum adoption, I'd just rather have learned about it at around 10ish. I did get lucky enough to sit and work with the guy with the gorgeous skin. I think I may have written about him last year, but I'm not feeling like looking for it now. Anyway, this guy is essentially the male Snow White. Skin as white as snow, hair as black as night. He is nothing short of delicious and all day long he was mine mine mine. Lest anyone think me shallow, he is also incredibly intelligent, articulate, dedicated, sincere, and a wonderful teacher. And did I mention he has a great butt? Okay, so I'm a little shallow. Hey, I'm only human. And I was discrete. And actually, in addition to getting me started back on an early A.M. schedule that will be mandatory beginning next week, there were parts of the day that were productive in areas other than fueling my libido. My brain is back in school mode. I came up with a plan for using the new report card that I think will work with most of my homeschooling families. I'm excited about some parts of the new math program and figuring out how to best integrate them. If I were not so easily frustrated about how inefficiently time is used at these things, I'd have to be pretty happy with the day on the whole. It's time to start getting excited about the coming year. Time to get the enthusiasm flowing and bathe in it. One more vacation day. Teachers report Monday morning. Students start Wednesday. Sharpen your pencils, boys and girls, it's *fall*. ~Alice |
