April 16, 2008~~8:07 p.m. Well, amazingly, it all worked out okay. Of course one can never count on the other party opening with, "You know, I thought about it and realized that I was completely out of line." We had a good conversation, clarified a few things, and, I think, brought the friendship to an even better place. It's always great to be rewarded for one's stupidity... kinda like whipping out a half-assed paper at the last minute and then getting an A. Doesn't really reinforce the desired behavior. I think the reason I like to vent in fake email instead of just using Word is that it feels *real*. What I will do from now on as a precaution (because the touch screen on the iPhone can be a little too responsive) is list myself as the recipient. In other news, we found out this week that our principal has accepted a position elsewhere and given her notice. I've been teaching at this school for seven years, our current principal is the fifth administrator in that time period. Hating change as I do, this does not please me. We lose a year everytime we get someone new while the staff jockeys for favor and influence. I stay out of that; I'm there to teach, not to play bullshit games. Seriously, if I had that kind of time to waste, I'd have a zillion things I'd rather do. |
