Fall? Really?

Well, they're gone... off to the first day of school... and summer is, officially, over. Everyone got up and ready just fine, but there sure isn't the first-day enthusiasm that was present when they were little. And they sure were grumpy about my need to take first-day-of-school pictures before they left... but we've always done it and I'm sure not going to let two angsty teens mess up my traditions. It's hard to believe there will only be two more first days of school before Elle doesn't live here full-time anymore.

I thought I was going to hang out with a friend today, but that fell through. I'm mildly disappointed even though my last day of summer will be far more relaxing without the drive. It is my plan to do as much "nothing" as I can fit into the next seven and a half hours. I'm trying hard not to even think about school.

Gosh, I could really go for a few more weeks of summer... especially since it's so blasted hot right now. Who wants to go back to school when it's 100 degrees out? Seriously, if Mother Nature says it's still summer, who are we to argue? More vacation for everyone! That's my vote.
